SH3 Lyon St - Kihikihi Village Upgrade
Client – Waipa District Council
Waipa District Council identified that Kihikihi Town Centre needed an upgrade. The Kihikihi Town Centre development included upgrading water and stormwater, new kerb and channel, intersection upgrades, footpath paving, lighting, new street furniture and landscaping. The contract covered a length of over 400m from Whitmore Street through to Linden Street. The majority of the works occurred on State Highway 3, which meant traffic volumes on site were high.
CCS worked with NZTA and Transfield throughout the project to gain approval for traffic management plans and maintenance works. CCS also built strong relationships with business owners in Kihikihi, in order to keep them informed of the ongoing works and minimise the number of complaints throughout the project. This was key to the success of the project and was evident in the support and cooperation that was given by affected business owners
Due to the high traffic volume on site, timing was critical and we had to ensure that the works were finished as programmed, in order to allow Transfield to complete road surfacing on time.
The project was completed on time and within budget. The results exceeded expectations and both the Council and Kihikihi community were pleased with how the upgrade transformed their main street.
